05.20.06 - Indianapolis - The 2nd annual aaim one day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a rousing success. Thanks to Dr. James Logan, (1st african american owner in the Indy Racing League), Paul Riley, (Facilities Manager and Co-founder of aaim1.com), Joie Chitwood, (President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway), IMS food and beverage staff, Grace Apostolic Church and the aaim one dot com staff, the kids enjoyed food, fun, meet and greet and pole day qualification action at the famed oval.
The kids received the royal treatment from the moment they were loaded on the bus to make the trip to the Speedway. AAIM1 supplied embroidered logo t-shirts and qualification credentials for each child. Once they arrived at the track, the famed speedway "yellow shirts" provided a special tram to transport the group to the AJ Foyt room located in Gasoline Alley. They were treated to lunch and a grab bag of goodies courtesy of the speedway.
Special Guest Speaker, Dr. Jim Logan, entertained the kids with his historical perspective on Logan Racing and the Indy Racing League. Dr. Logan also passed out and autographed a special Logan Racing picture card for each child. The group was also treated to 17 year-old Zak Leeke who has been racing since age 5 and has aspirations to race in the IRL in the future.
Chants of "Danica", Danica, Danica" were yelled as the group enjoyed pole day from the grandstands at the Speedway including the qualification run by the Rahal/Letterman driver. The kids were even treated to waves by Danica as she left the Media Room after her run.
AAIM1 is the proud sponsor of this annual event as it allows us to share our passion with the future african americans in motorsports.
